Look Up at the Sky is roughly one third complete with walks completed from Hampton Court to Hammersmith Bridge. It’s been delightful and surprising, with more airplanes and rowers than anticipated. Parts of the river are so exposed that it’s possible to stroll along the edge, other areas are closed off; home to birds and snails only. It’s been fascinating to try capturing the experience of walking in words, as well as charts and images.
Having got this far, I thought I should mark the achievement by sharing a selection of photographs taken.
Have a look at Look Up at the Sky on Flickr for further images from the walks.
I’ll be trying out some new ideas from week 11, inviting other artists along with me to look up, slow down and enjoy the river. I’m hoping we’ll all produce new work which will be showcased each week on the website. As the walks start to enter busier parts of London, it’s going to be a challenge to find peacefulness and keep the pace leisurely.
